SAP is a 501-C-3 organization established in 1989 by Laurie Block and John Crowley. We specialize in developing presentations about American history and culture for a general public audience. We work in several media: film, video, radio, print and the Internet; and in several venues: television and radio, schools, museums, historical societies, cultural heritage sites. We produce our own projects and we provide services to other producers.
Here in the shop, the projects we shepherd from idea to marketing tend to focus on the cultural history of the body -- the meaning of fitness, disability, health, etc. We also have strong interests in the history of media, from the printing press to the magic lantern to the Internet.
Beyond our own work, we provide a variety of consulting, writing, and research services to film-makers, radio producers, small museums, historical societies, non-profits, and educational institutions.
